Smashing Pumpkins news UPDATE
mkay, mkay, mkay.
i bring you smashing pumpkins news.reasons to be excited for teargarden by kaleidyscope:
- 1) it will consist of 44 songs, and they will all be released FOR FREE. they will also be put into 11 limited edition EP’s containing 4 tracks each, and will later be put together into a box set for all the hardcore fans out there. billy says “the box set will not be a recompilation of the limited edition pieces.”
- 2) billy is going back to his roots. he stated that “the music of ‘Teargarden by Kaleidyscope’ harkens back to the original psychedelic roots of The Smashing Pumpkins: atmospheric, melodic, heavy, and pretty.”
- 3) KIMBERLY KAY IS BACK. who is kimberly kay? well, it’s more like what is kimberly kay, since she really isn’t a person. kimberly kay is actually the name that billy corgan gave to the guitar he used to record mayonaise from siamese dream, as well as 1979 from MCIS.
- 4) the mellon collie piano is back. it was also used for songs in adore and machina.
- 5) the sitar makes a return as well.
- 6) and last but not least: WORLD TOUR. yes, that’s right. SP plan on going on a world tour in between recording breaks. billy expects the recording of all 44 tracks will take at least one year.
i’m sure there will be more reasons to come as the recording process continues. to stay updated on the recording process, check out producer kerry brown’s blog. to stay informed of all the latest SP gossip, visit the oboard aka the smashing pumpkins official forum at smashingpumpkins.com. don’t be intimidated by us fans. we can be crazy at times. and be sure to say hi to me while posting on the oboard (i’m cundinama; i use the same lenin avatar). but don’t go overboard, or i’ll have to ban you :P
